"I started reading this series several years ago, back when the English translated manga was being released by volumes. I got to volume 4 when the last volume was yanked due to the unfortunate cover controversyĆ¢€”a *total* B.S. situation that was completely overblown and unfair to the incredibly talented Nitta-san.

Anyway, here is the whole series, conveniently packaged in one e-book, and it looks as lovely as ever. I love the 2 main characters, neither of whom are the least bit girly. I wish there was more to look forward to for Iwaki-San and Katou-kun, but even if this is all, it's still better than most series I've read. They're beautiful and as delicious as eating honey off Brad Pitt's abs."

  • I love this series and the artwork is amazing. It is an emotional love story and some struggles for this couple who use to be Adult Video stars and how they progressed into regular acting. Also the struggle of two straight men falling in love with one another. I have read the series several times but unfortunately the series did NOT end at volume 6. It has 14 volumes total but then there is a spin-off with these same characters called "Haru o Daite Ita Alive" that has 5 volumes out and is still ongoing. In the spin-off, Iwaki finds out he has a teenage son and you see their relationship develop. He is an actor also. Well... hopefully the publishing company will finished both series because I hate it when a series isn't over but the series wasn't published fully. This has happened to several manga's I love. Such as the "Crimson Hero". Ugh!
  • I truly love this story, I read it since the beginning back in 2005 and I felt in love with it, The art is amazing and the story is really passionate. This new edition is very good and the fact that you get two volumes in one is very convenient too. The book is thick but not too much. the only complain that I find is that the cover of each chapter is not included in the book, what you get instead is a blank page with just the title of the chapter and it's such a shame because they are really beautiful. I wish the publisher would reconsider this for the second volume, but anyway I'm so in love with this series that I'll buy it no matter what. I also hope they publish the complete series up to volume 14 since it's already finished!

  • I came to this title some time ago and I hesitated to read it for a list of reasons. I did not fall in love with it right away, but I remember the exact moment that I did and the exact reason why it is a tale of imperfections and the desire to rise above. Since that first reading, I've read it at least a dozen times. I've read fan translations on manga reading sites and I've read the original Be-Beautiful publication. This one blows them all out of the water.

To current fans of the series this edition is not entirely perfect, I confess, but as close to it as I think it is possible to come. Splash pages are missing, as are extra stories and author's notes, but it is the most complete story I have seen. There are pages included that were omitted in the Be-Beautiful edition and whole chapters that are missing in scanlations. More than the format and layout, the translation is outstanding. The characters feel more real than ever before, the plot makes much more sense, the flow is outstanding. If you're on the fence about new editions (as many of us often are, usually for very good reasons), rest assured that this one is as beautiful as the original manga was intended to be.

To yaoi fans who have not yet indulged read this. I like a lot of fluffy nonsense, stupid and funny stories, but Embracing Love (or Haru wo Daiteita) is meaningful. Nitta-sensei truly respects not just the male character, but also the female character, and the gender-queer, as well. The story spans years, it is a tale of living and growing and changing. There is a fair amount of sex, to be certain, but it is hardly a pornographic work. This is truly erotica (albeit explicit), but it is a love story first and foremost. The artwork is unique, definitely nothing I've seen before or since, it is in Nitta-sensei's own style and it is beautiful.

To gay men who avoid yaoi because it is full of stereotypes and absurdly girly boys you are not alone. This is a story that transcends the typical banality of male homosexuals as portrayed by women. The characters worry, they have conundrums, they worry about themselves and their portrayal in the larger world, but it is most definitely not always in a juvenile way. This is a story about adults who live adult lives in an adult world and who are faced with adult problems and screw up just like the rest of the adult world. I won't lie there's a definite element of "no freaking way." For the most part, things don't work out that way in reality. That's true. That's part of the reason why we read stories. Where most yaoi has an excess of lovey-dovey and most bara has a deficit of it, Embracing Love is one of the few stories to find a happy medium. It's sweet, not saccharine.

SuBLime manga has once again put out a quality product. Enjoy it.
  • At first, I decided to buy this book to support the author since I read online version already. But when I re-read this printed version, I was over satisfied with the translation, pictures and everything of it. The translation was great which brought sense to the story. The art was great. Especially the Sublimemanga did make a great job in converting the original work into English version both in translation and in art. Every details are translated and touched up nicely. I feel like I'm reading the original.

This book definitely is worth of every penny if you are a fan of yaoi.

Thank you for bringing us such great work.
  • Different art, but it grows on you. Love the story.
  • Love having volumes 1 and 2 in one book! The drawings aren't the best I've ever seen, but very enjoyable nonetheless. There are plenty of smut scenes to go along with a pleasant story. And the honorifics are included, which I like. I will definitely be buying the next installment.
  • Nitta Youka's masterpiece in format in two books per volume! What's not to love! I am looking forward to seeing all the complete series (14 books so far) and it is still ongoing. Joy...
