Cook90 The 30Day Plan for Faster Healthier Happier Meals David Tamarkin Epicurious 9780316420150 Books Reviews
- I like the idea of cooking and challenging to cook all 3 meals for 30 days. I'm a foodie/home chef at heart and enjoy being in the kitchen. I was excited about the book but, disappointed in the recipes once I received and tried them out. They are really basic/boring. I've yet to find one of them that has that "I can't wait to make that again" type of feeling. Great ideas for meal prep and cooking continuously without eating out, etc. but, the recipes lack luster.
- I was drawn to this book by the impressive list of recipes and the use of "nextovers." The author states that the purpose of the book is "to learn new recipes, pick up new skills and keep your daily cooking as diverse as possible," without relying too much on leftovers. That is exactly what makes Cook90 undoable for me. Even using nextovers, I won’t last a week cooking two new meals daily. I can cook one new meal daily and have the leftovers for lunch the next day. What’s important to me isn’t diversity but cooking what I eat without relying on delivery, take out or frozen or other packaged meals. I’m fine with eating the same thing more than twice a month or even twice a week.
- Disappointed because I understood the Cook90 book to be the basis of the Epi 2019 Cook90 plan including shopping lists, prep ideas for “high intensity interval“ meal preparation integrated with the Epi digital Annual Epi Cook90 program. Completely fails. While a meal plan is presented in the book is tainted as the Official Cook90 Plan, the digital Epi Cook90 uses different menus. There are no weekly shopping list in the book and only the barest of basic ideas for what Epi calls “high intensity interval“ prep such as “make extra rice or a big batch of beansâ€. The menus presented in the book are not integrated across the week to use what Epi advertises as “nextoversâ€.
- I just got this book and have already cooked two recipes. Directions are simple and straightforward and both recipes turned out amazing. I made dinner one night (slow-roasted sheet-pan salmon with broccolini and lemon), then the next day used the salmon for “nextovers†(spiced chickpeas with salmon, radishes, and greens). I love the concept of cooking more than you need one day so the next day you can use some of the same food to cook a whole new meal. I have multiple other recipes earmarked to try, and I ordered two more to give as gifts.
- Just got this cookbook today! So excited about these recipes. Nearly every recipe is simple, repurposes an ingredient from another recipe. This will make week night cooking a cinch.
- There is a lot to love about this cookbook, from the voice and personality of the author to the wide variety of recipes -- and of course the recipes themselves. (If you want to discover the magic of white beans, this cookbook is for you!) But really if you want to plan and shop a little bit ahead -- and to bring a little imagination and inspiration and organization into your cooking life -- this cookbook will be an incredible, and also fun, resource. Highly recommended! And a great gift.
- This book helps individuals and families connect and recharge by going back to basics, cooking at home. I love the guide on how to build a basic pantry and shopping guide, and how to use nextovers. Teaches that delicious doesn't have to be complicated...
- Cook90 is a beautiful book with delicious recipes. I love the author's philosophy on home cooking and his easy instructions on how to make it more a part of a busy life. We especially loved the dutch baby recipe! I highly recommend this book!
